Star Alliance soon to welcome Egypt Air

EgyptAir has just confirmed that it will make its full entrance into Star Alliance on the 11th of July. Aiming to make Cairo a principle gateway into Africa, EgyptAir has already begun aligning itself with the recent relocation of all Star Alliance carriers to Cairo's new Terminal 3.
Emirates to receive its first A380 on 28 July
Powered by Engine Alliance's GP7200 engines, Emirates' A380s are capable of flying up to 15,000 kilometres on a full load offering fuel economy as low as 3.1 litres per 100 passenger kilometres. The A380 is also quieter, both inside and outside of the cabin, which means more comfort for passengers.

The service fee to check one bag for domestic travel will be $15 each way and the fee to check three or more bags, overweight bags or items that require special handling will increase from $100 to $125 or from $200 to $250, depending on the item.Autogrill SpA enters Egypt
Autogrill SpA has won a five year concession to supply restaurant services at Cairo International Airport. It is opening its first food & beverage operation in Egypt. The offering will feature international concepts such as Puro Gusto, an Autogrill Italian cafeteria brand, and Heineken Bar, a contemporary pub specially tailored to the airport's passengers, as well as local brands like Saqqara Café, and Cilantro, Egypt's most popular branded coffee concept.

Festival Center 2011
Orascom and Al-Futtaim Carillion have been selected to construct Festival Centre at Cairo Festival City. Cairo Festival City covers 3 million square metres and is strategically located on the Ring Road only 15 minutes from Cairo's International Airport.
The three-level Festival Centre will be home to a mix of 250 leading international and regional retail brands, a hypermarket and multiplex cinema. Festival Village will offer outdoor entertainment, dining and boutiques. The scheme is due for completion in 2011.

Archaeologists find ancient wine factory in Egypt
Archaeologists have found two ancient wine presses in the mountain range of St. Catherine, which are most likely part of the area's earliest winery. The discoveries dating back to 4th - 6th centuries include the presses, clay vessels called amphorae, and grape seeds. The structures are similar to presses used by ancient Egyptians in the fertile Nile Delta as early as 3000 BCE.
